It’s 2016, there are a number of changes about to take place and I probably should have written this January 1st. The fact that everyone lacks time, I figured this was the best way to successfully articulate my 2016 plan. I normally wouldn’t write this because these days, I’m trying to just practice versus preach.
However, considering this plan will impact my clients, employees, and partners, I wanted to publish this versus explaining it multiple times. Lastly, having it in writing will hold me more accountable. For me, 2016 has been defined as the year of simplicity.
Why am I taking this approach?
To better focus on clients and business. To declutter my life. To shift focus.
HEALTH & WELLNESS
I want to make an honest effort to get in the best shape possible and ultimately attempt to reverse the aging process. What that means is making a stronger daily effort to:
Eat more raw foods
Consume less sugar and processed foods
Moderate caffeine intake
Sleep 8 hours a night
Take better care of my skin, teeth & eyes (practice what I preach)
Eliminate all fried foods
I’m taking the first month of the year to continue to clean out my house in its entirety and get rid of anything that isn’t used or doesn’t hold any value. I plan on taking a “zero based thinking” approach when it comes to determining what to discard and what to keep. I learned this from Charles Ngo, an affiliate marketer I read up on now. If you’re not familiar with this approach, it’s a way of looking at something and asking yourself, “If I had the opportunity to acquire that item, would I buy it again?”
In the event that I wouldn’t, that item is to be considered useless to me and I should discard of it immediately. I plan on taking the same approach with regards to digital assets (I’ll touch upon those below).
In addition to that, I plan on taking an inventory and buying less of everything in 2016. Not because I want less, but because It’s easier to manage and quite frankly, I don’t want more “stuff.” I want to just be happier and have more financial stability i.e. a bunch of security / money in the bank versus in the form of non-liquid assets. I rather have a fewer nicer things and enjoy them versus having tons of stuff.
This leads me to money. I’d like to put forth a more conscious effort into saving and spending less but also making more. Frugality is a quality that I once had. I was really good when it came to money (accountant/finance guy in me) and I want to continue to excel at that. That means spending less on worthless stuff and more on things that provide enjoyment or a return on my investment.
I’d like to make more of an effort to adventure and travel this year. It might be difficult to accomplish in Q1 (Jan-Mar) but I want to do that in Q2-Q4 more if permitted.
I want to make an honest effort to read more books this year and really try and exercise my mind more than I have in the past. Seems like it’s a quality that most focused business gurus stay consistent with doing. Similar to physically exercising.
Here’s the meat and potatoes of it all. I want to build a few businesses up that generate healthy revenue streams. My goal is a certain undisclosed amount per month. If I exceed that, then fantastic! Ultimately I’d like to far surpass that number. It’s doable and both you and I know that for sure.
Here’s how I plan on getting there:
SEO Clients – I plan on heavily building my SEO client business.
Affiliate – I plan on continuing to build my affiliate sites more frequently with a wider range of lower hanging fruits. That means more sites, more rankings, more traffic and more sales.
Travel – I plan on building our travel platform and marketing services brand up to ensure the greatest growth opportunity to date.
Skincare – I plan on building up the existing skincare brands, sites and overall traffic that I’m involved.
Tangible Goods – I plan on creating and entering a new tangible product market (to be disclosed at a later date) this year.
Niche Focus – I plan on trying to slowly roll out 50 niche relevant EMDs that will help build a strong traffic source in various specific product/brand niches.
Offline Business – My offline businesses are on autopilot these days and will remain so until I need to dive deeper into them.
Another thing that I should also mention is my plan to immediately eliminate anything that doesn’t add value. I have 500+ domains. 80% of which hold either zero value, zero DA/PA or zero SE volume because they’ve either never been built, never took off, were purchased sporadically with branding in mind or I just didn’t have the bandwidth. In order to further increase my focus with a “lion-like” approach, I’m going to sell, drop or just give away anything that’s not in the cards for being built or developed in the next 12 months. It’s all just white noise and continues to be a shiny white object on the shelf that doesn’t get used.
ATTITUDE AND GRATITUDE
I want to focus and really try hard to have a great positive attitude everyday overall and be grateful as well. I’ve got a lot to be thankful for and I want to make an honest effort to try and do so. It’s about the journey we all are going through in life and not where we end up. Although I’d like to end up somewhere really, really nice with friends! I’m hoping I can stop focusing just on the future and start focusing more on small wins today by doing something to make today a great day, not just tomorrow.
I know that was a rant and a half but I’m sure you’ll appreciate the transparency if you’re a client, partner, friend or family member. My intentions and actions are in the right place to make everyone profitable.
