Many individuals think that Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other social networks are king. But, they are not seeing the big picture of it all. I’m going to share with you exactly why content truly is king. Of course, these are just a few key points. I could go on for days on this topic. Instead, I’ll keep it brief and to the point. Keep reading…
Content Attracts Customers
Having played a significant role within multiple online companies as an employee, partner and owner, it’s easy for me to see that content is a primary driver when it comes to customer acquisition. Even with all the free content on the Internet, people are still willing and able to pay for content. They appreciate the well packaged, regularly updated content and some will go as far to pay for it for months, even years. They do this for the convenience as well as completeness.
In order to attract customers, you’ve got to show them your product, give them a chance to try it out, or provide enough value to convince them to take action. Providing good free content is essential and it is one inexpensive, effective way to attract customers. If you don’t do this now, I suggest you start, yesterday.
Content Turns Engines On
If you’re looking to get your product in front of more people using the various search engines then content is your best friend. I’m not going to get into every aspect that helps one rank in search results but I can promise you that sites with high quality content often rank higher long term than others.
Content Creates More Content
Take a second to browse through all your photos on your iPhone or Android. Did you find any amazing pictures? I bet you did! That’s all fresh and 100% original content created by you. That’s right, you’re capable of creating awesome content. Now that you have all that content you have choices of where to publish it. If you look at Facebook, Instagram or Twitter it’s easy to notice that individuals post content all day long. That content often inspires us to open up and get more creative. It’s as if we are competing against one another. Well, we actually are! Individuals create content and we create more content ourselves. Round and round we go.
Content Drives Networks
Without all the Facebook updates, tweets, IG posts, Foursquare updates etc. none of these networks would exist. Well, they would but they would not be used as much and they certainly would not have as much traffic as they do. The content shared within these networks is the main driver of each of their huge levels of success. These social networks update thousands of times per second. That’s a whole lot of content and a huge driver of success.
Content Reduces Attrition
Whether you’re acquiring customers for your SaaS product, membership site or any other type of product or service online, providing content to current previously acquired customers can help reduce attrition rates. Delivering content to active customers keeps them interested in your product. It also lets them know that you’re working on further perfecting things and overall just letting them know you’re on the ball so to speak. Create content for your current customers. Emails, blog posts, exclusive information and more. Trust me, it will increase your overall customer value and net income.
